Less time in the field, more forest data

Review forest metrics and your field work in real-time from your desk. Terrestrial LiDAR for precision forest inventory – now in Brazil.

What does your forest look like?

One question at a time. We'll show you the right solution and price.

Is your stand a single-species plantation (e.g., Eucalyptus, Pine)?

VALIDATION

Inventar Gmb and 44moles schedule xylometer test to validate LiDAR measurements

Lavras, Minas Gerais – Inventar Gmb will run a controlled xylometer comparison against our terrestrial LiDAR output before leaders in the field of emerging forestry technology. The results will support the accuracy of our volume and diameter claims in live plantation conditions.

Short-term: 44moles is one of the few – if not, one of the first LiDAR companies to validate their claims using the xylometer method. You will be able to trust LiDAR-derived DBH and volume for harvest planning without the destructive sampling.

Long-term: The test will be a step into examining other use cases for LiDAR. For example, the same dense LiDAR scanpoint cloud could reveal features we did not originally target: ant galleries in stems, dead-wood distribution, and structural defects. Thus, opening new use cases beyond standard inventory.

CASE STUDY

What a pilot study in Brazil taught us about building reliable forest inventory

Sixty-six terrestrial LiDAR scanning sessions across eucalyptus plantations — most of them in coppice stands — and the five lessons that shaped the DFI platform.
